Kiteworld c/o Pacific Wave, began in 1989 as a full service windsurf shop. The owner Josh Gizdavich was very excited about the shop's location - on the banks of the Columbia River in Warrenton, Oregon. The shop grew and added kayaking boats, gear, and lessons to its quiver of fun things to do.

In 1999, Josh quit windsurfing and started kiteboarding. All the locals watched Josh the first year and then followed pursuit of the sport the following spring. Ben Colliander, Kiteworld's manager gave it a try, and the store suddenly bloomed into a full service kiteboarding shop as Ben's kiteboarding skills and passion help fuel the way to Kiteworld.
